Kisala
A moment to unwind in the city.
Perched on the 4th floor in Akasaka, Kisala pairs fresh seasonal fruit cocktails and roughly 150 whiskies with house-smoked specialties, welcoming guests from early afternoon deep into the night.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Step out of the elevator onto the building's 4th floor, and the busy Akasaka streets give way to a subdued, quietly lit sanctuary. As your eyes adjust, the warm glow of candlelight picks out the edges of the counter, accompanied by gentle jazz that sets an unhurried rhythm for the evening. Opening its doors from 14:00, the bar offers two distinct moods: soft daylight filtering through curtains during the quiet early afternoon, and dramatic, shadowed intimacy after dark.
Once settled at the counter, a good place to start is simply sharing your flavor preferences. The bartenders craft drinks with deft precision, whether highlighting luscious seasonal produce like strawberries, kiwi, or peaches in fresh-fruit cocktails, or balancing fragrant botanicals with fine effervescence in a classic gin and tonic. The back bar carries around 150 whiskies, spanning coveted Japanese bottles such as Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Hibiki alongside characterful single malts including The Macallan, Ardbeg, and Springbank, inviting unhurried exploration according to your palate.
The food selection is equally considered, with smoked dishes thoughtfully designed to complement spirits and wine. House-made bacon, duck breast, and Camembert each make an appearance on the menu, rich with wood-fired aromatics. For lighter grazing, there is thin-crust Margherita pizza alongside assorted appetizers, making it easy to turn an after-dinner drink into a relaxed early-evening bite. With reservations accepted, credit card payment available, and a soothing room of 8 counter seats alongside sofa seating, lingering over an after-dinner pour of grappa or marc makes a satisfying finish.
